Sony Ericsson W950i – submerge in music...

After ages of making it, the Sony Ericsson W950i is finally out in the market. And did it create the ripples? Not really. Despite being a musical powerhouse with a whooping 4GB memory, the phone lacks any other major attraction. Thereby, it seems like the phone is more of a mp3 player that can make phone calls as well.

To begin with sections of disappointment, the Sony Ericsson W950i does not have a camera, and neither is there any provision for upgrading the memory. Omission of camera really comes as a surprise, for the handset is the first in the series to be without this feature. Some excuse can be provided for the lack of more memory space though, for as such the handset comes with good amount of memory.

Otherwise this handset comes through as quite a decent phone under the Walkman series. The Sony Ericsson W950i comes with a competent music player (that can support 3GPP, AAC+, MIDI, MP3, MP4, WAV, WMA and Real Audio), can store up to 1000 songs, includes FM radio with radio data support, has trackID to know the details of the tracks and offers music DJ to pay tribute to creativity. Plus, the handset also features Disc2Phone software to drag-and-drop songs from your music CDs to the phone, as well as the PC Suite synchronization software with the Sony Ericsson W950i. Song browsing has been made even easier. The new handset now has a jog wheel.

One main use of the Sony Ericsson W950i apart from music, is its 3G capability. The users now get the benefit of fast web browsing - thanks to the inclusion of Opera 8.0 browser and the ability to download RSS feeds. But the handset does not offer the benefit of video calling.

The Sony Ericsson W950i runs on Symbian operating system. So the users can now download new applications. Besides, the users also get all the benefit of a smartphone. The Sony Ericsson W950i offers 7.5 hours of talk time.
